Will the 'storm surge' make an appearance in the conference finals?

The Carolina Hurricanes booked an early ticket to the Eastern Conference Final by sweeping the New York Islanders in the second round, so they’ve got some extra time on their hands right now as they wait to find out who they’ll be playing.

With the Boston Bruins and the Columbus Blue Jackets battling it out in Game 6 on Monday night, the Hurricanes were enjoying their extended time off. However, they still had practice earlier in the day but it wasn’t your typical practice as the guys spent some time talking about their plans from the weekend.

Not a bad way to spend some time during practice, especially when you’re the first team to book a ticket to the conference finals.

Considering they’re still at least a couple of days away from returning to action, we think it’s safe to say they earned this light practice on Monday.
