We’ve seen hitters, catchers and umpires end up on the wrong end of pitches traveling at high speeds but we’ve never seen them all get taken out at once by the same pitch.
On Monday night the Chicago Cubs paid a visit to the Miami Marlins. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson stepped up to the plate to face Yu Darvish and things went south in a quickly.
Darvish delivered a 99mph fastball that ended up leaving on a mark on both Brinson and home plate umpire Brian O'Nora, but seemed to do more damage to the young outfielder. However, it could have been a lot worse, so he’s probably just happy to escape without any serious injuries.
