The release of the NHL’s Reverse Retro jerseys on Monday has basically thrown us into a time machine, thinking about all of the great jerseys from the past that inspired the current crop of retro jerseys as well as those that didn’t make the cut.
Throwback jerseys are something we see in other sports all the time, although the NHL taking it leaguewide is a really exciting twist to see. We’re not sure how the league plans to use these, whether or not there will be scheduled ‘Reverse Retro games’ or just at each team’s discretion.
What we’re sure of, though, is that other leagues should one hundred percent take this same concept for themselves. Even if we were just keeping it within hockey!
The OHL has had some great jerseys in their past, too. Inspired by this tweet featuring the Ottawa 67's, Kingston Frontenacs, London Knights and Niagara IceDogs, here are ten more fantastic throwbacks that would be great if the OHL ever went down the Reverse Retro route one day.
Erie Otters
Guelph Storm
Hamilton Bulldogs
Kitchener Rangers
North Bay Battalion
Oshawa Generals
Saginaw Spirit
Soo Greyhounds
Sudbury Wolves
Windsor Spitfires
