Matt Duchene has been on the trade block for a long time, so he must feel relieved to put all of these rumours behind him.
Here are the full details of the deal:
To Ottawa: C Matt Duchene
To Nashville: C Kyle Turris
To Colorado: OTT 1st-round pick, OTT 3rd-round pick, C Shane Bowers, G Andrew Hammond (from Ottawa); NSH 2nd-round pick, D Samuel Girard, LW Vladislav Kamenev (from Nashville).
As bizarre as the entire process has been for Duchene, his eventual departure might be the weirdest part. Duchene was on the ice for the Colorado Avalanche as they were playing the New York Islanders in Brooklyn. During the game, Blake Comeau was injured and it turned out to be at the precise time that Duchene was traded.
As Comeau was helped off the ice, Duchene snuck off right behind him – ending his time in Colorado.
The deal was completed as a three-way deal with Nashville and Colorado, as was rumoured a couple of days ago.
So far, it is known that Kyle Turris will end up in Nashville, but the rest of the details are still waiting on confirmation. Colorado held on to Duchene for a long time, so hopefully they ended up getting what they had been waiting for.
