The Vegas Golden Knights fanbase made their anger known last night after an overturned overtime winner ultimately cost them Game 2 of their second round series with the San Jose Sharks.

Tied at threes in the first extra frame, Jonathan Marchessault appeared to score the game-winner with 3:02 remaining. However, the league determined the forward made contact with Sharks goaltender Martin Jones prior to putting the puck in. Frustrated with the call, Golden Knights fans expressed their displeasure by throwing objects onto the ice. The team’s in-arena announcer consequently instructed spectators to not throw anything onto the playing surface.

To make matters worse, San Jose was later awarded a power play in the second overtime and capitalized on a rocket from forward Logan Couture. The marker evened the series at one game apiece.

The events inside T-Mobile Arena come shortly after another NHL fanbase threw objects onto the ice. After losing to their cross-state rival Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers fans covered the ice with beer cans and bottles at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Golden Knights fans have displayed tremendous loyalty and class throughout the team’s first season, but this was certainly one of its lower points thus far. The loss means the series will come back to Vegas for what will be a crucial Game 5.
