Vegas is approaching their first postseason in franchise history, following up the greatest inaugural season an expansion team has ever had. Part of that has come from a crazy home-arena advantage that according to Alex Ovechkin is not like anywhere else.

Now the Knights want to protect that advantage, and they’ve come up with a way to make that happen. It’s called the Knights Vow.

Essentially what it includes is allowing season ticket holders a discount price on playoff tickets, as long as they agree to waive their right to sell it on third-party ticket vendor StubHub. This is a very basic stipulation, but it will is in Vegas’ hopes that it will prevent opposing fans from being able to buy tickets off the website.

The following is an excerpt taken from NBCSports outlining the plan:

1. VGK Full Season Ticket Members will be automatically enrolled in the “Knights Vow,” which provides the most significant price savings off the single game ticket price.

As part of the Knights Vow program, members will receive tickets electronically via FlashSeats shortly after dates/times of the first-round home playoff games are set
Resale through StubHub – the Golden Knights exclusive, authorized secondary partner – will not be available under this option.

2. VGK Full Season Ticket Members may elect to opt out of the Knights Vow in order to have the opportunity to sell their tickets through the Golden Knights exclusive, authorized secondary partner, StubHub. However, their savings off the single game ticket price under this option will not be as significant as those who are enrolled in the Knights Vow program (Option 1 above).

Clever! If the plan works out, this may end up becoming a more popular trick teams use to help their advantage. However, they likely will name it something other than the Knights Vow. It’s also a little less… err… juvenile then some other similar ploys. Take the Oakland A’s for example…
