It’s not often that arguably the best player at his position becomes available mid-season, so it’s understandable that teams are salivating at the idea of boosting their roster. But there are strict rules in the NFL, and Tyreek Hill’s inability to contain himself amid the Jalen Ramsey trade rumours could end up being costly for the Kansas City Chiefs.
A top three contender for this year’s Lombardi Trophy, the Chiefs have reportedly emerged as the early favoruite to land Ramsey and it didn’t take long for Hill to try and recruit the All-Pro corner. It wasn’t much, but Hill publicly tweeted “Let’s go” after tagging Ramsey.
The tweet as since been deleted.
The NFL’s Anti-tampering policy states the following:
“No club, nor any person employed by or otherwise affiliated with a club, is permitted to tamper with a player who is under contract to or whose exclusive negotiating rights are held by another club.”
Yeah… that sure does look like tampering.
The Chiefs’ secondary has proven to be its Achilles’ heel over the years and Ramsey could be the missing piece to take them over the top. For the Chiefs' sake, let’s just hope Hill’s fingers don't end up costing them too much in the future.
