John Tortorella has never been afraid to say it how it is, even when it has come to the best players in the world. His latest victim? Connor McDavid.

Yes, THE Connor McDavid.

The 24-year-old is off to a blazing hot start with nine goals and 15 assists in just 24 games, not to mention the Oilers lead the Pacific Division with a 10-2 record. But according to Torts, McDavid will need to make adjustments on the defensive side of the puck if he wants to win a championship.

During an ESPN broadcast, the former head coach did not hold back while discussing the world’s best player. Buckle up!

The Oilers are middle of the pack with 2.92 goals against per game and McDavid himself has a ridiculous 62.9 Corsi For percentage, not to mention he’s averaging his highest faceoff percentage of his career at 54.9% but does Torts have a point here? Besides, it’s pretty refreshing to hear a different take on the Oilers captain!

Through six NHL seasons, McDavid has advanced to the second round just once. The Oilers are rolling right now so time will tell if Torts raised a good point or if this was all just one big comment that managed to get a bunch of views on the internet.
