The Montreal Canadiens traded their long-term centreman to their rivalries to the West in one of the most surprising trades we’ve seen in a while.
The Leafs packaged Rinat Valiev, Kerby Rychel and a second-round pick in this year’s entry for Plekanec and minor league forward Kyle Baun. The Habs also agreed to absorb 50% of Plekanec’s deal.
A couple members of the team reached out to say their thanks for all the 31-year-old did during his time in Montreal, including team owner Geoff Molson.
