A new fad is sweeping Yankee nation.

It all started two Mondays ago when the broadcast caught a man at Yankee stadium giving the thumbs down following a Todd Frazier home run. With the Yanks playing Tampa Bay, the pinstripe faithful originally thought the man must be a Rays fan. It turns out he is a Mets’ diehard fan. With Hurricane Irma reaching New York, the Yankees/Rays series was moved to Citi Field, home of the Mets, as a precaution.

When Gary Dunaier first flashed the thumbs down, he couldn’t have possibly known that it would take off the way it has. He was simply attending a game and being himself, but the camera catching him in such a genuine moment of awesome has now made him a meme (remind you of anyone?).

Since the now famous gesture, the Yankee players have used it as a celebration and have taken it to social media a number of times. While the whole team seems to be involved, it's Todd Frazier, the man who's homer spawned the fad, is certainly leading the charge.

The Yankees' season has been anything but thumbs down so far, but the storied celebration doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
