Unfortunately there have been a number of mass shootings over the past few decades, with the most recent coming from Parkland, Florida, where Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was the heartbreaking location of seventeen deaths.
The heartbreak and mourning is unimaginable for those unaffected, but that doesn’t stop people from outside the situation trying their very best to do what they can for those that are.
That includes the hockey community, and on Monday the Stoneman Douglas hockey team was given one of the greatest surprises a hockey fan can dream of – Lifting Lord Stanley’s Cup.
The dream was help made true by the Florida Panthers, who helped to organize the event. Shane Gostisbhere, who attended the school for two years, also showed up to make the team’s day.
While the day will be one to remember, the Florida Panthers aren’t stopping there.
