Last night’s Super Bowl capped off what seemed like a totally unpredictable season.
To say that again, it seemed like an unpredictable season until we realized that someone predicted it. To understand how implausible this prediction is, we have to go back to when the tweet was made, October 31, 2017. This was the Tuesday following week 8, a week in which Philly moved to 7-1 with a 33-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
To be fair to the Eagles, nobody was close to them in their division. The Cowboys sat second place at 4-3, but Philadelphia still wasn’t given a ton of credit as a contender. Then, “Luke in Philadelphia” sent this tweet:
Of course, this is basically exactly what happened. Carson Wentz (The MVP favourite at the time) tore his ACL in Week 14 and most people wrote the Eagles off. Then, they proceeded to walk all over the competition in the NFC and seemed to score at will against the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
We hope this guy put some money on this, because he could make a fortune.
On a semi-related note, he is now trying to make a fortune by telling fortunes.
