It’s been a wild few days for Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. The whole city has been absolutely electric ever since the Caps brought Lord Stanley home from Vegas, and the celebrations have been more well-documented than any other year so far. Probably because the celebrations have been way more extravagant than ever before, but hey, we’re just enjoying the ride.
On Monday night, Ovi, Braden Holtby, and the Stanley Cup visited Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. Things went, well, just about as you may have expected – wildly.
Fans were pretty happy when the pre-show content started emerging of the Caps duo drinking out of the cup with Fallon and horse jockey Mike Smith fresh off completing the Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes. Fallon also took a page out of Ovi’s book and did a keg stand from hockey’s most sought after trophy.
The segment didn’t disappoint. Fallon’s keg stand will now go down in Stanley Cup-lore as another moment that’s made the Caps championship more entertaining than most. They even revealed the new Sports Illustrated cover starring none other than Ovi and the Cup.
