The Pittsburgh Penguins had some fun at practice on Tuesday with a blast from the past: Wooden hockey sticks!
The practice came the following week after Pittsburgh lost 3-1 to the New York Islanders. The Pens are currently sitting in fifth place with a record of 5-5-1. At this point, anything might help a bad situation! It doesn’t hurt to try out new things in order to get back on the right track. Plus, it definitely seemed like a fun time!
Sidney Crosby must have been pumped when he heard the news! Crosby came into the league with a wooden stick and was one of the last in the NHL to stop using the two-piece. He even swore by it. To this day, he still uses a blade with a pretty flat curve.
We’ll see tonight if the sticks were any help when the Pens meet the Islanders again!
