During the 2018-2019 hockey season, there were a couple recurring things that kept coming up.

Goalie interference was definitely one of them, but on the brighter side of things, NHL teams kept adopting puppies

Following suit with this trend are the Ottawa Redblacks, who did this, but better. The CFL team didn’t just adopt one team puppy, they’ve adopted a whole LITTER of puppies.

In a release earlier this month, the Redblacks announced that they’d be adopting a litter of six Labrador Retriever puppies, that will eventually become guide dogs for Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, a non-profit organization that provides visually impaired Canadians with trained guide dogs.

The litter consists of four male and two female puppies, who have been dubbed the #RPuppies, which the team will soon be calling on fans to help name.

The R Puppies have shown that they’re not just cute faces on the REDBLACKS roster, and made their football debut at the TD Place today.

We love that this initiative is spreading to sports other than hockey, and in our opinion, every sports team should have a couple of puppies on the roster.

Have you seen Air Bud? The potential is endless with these guys.
