Vince Carter changed the way Canadians viewed basketball, but he also changed the game for basketball fans as a whole all around the world.

The 2000 Slam Dunk Contest champion is one of the most influential players in NBA history and there’s plenty of current players who grew up idolizing Carter. Now that his career is all said and done, some NBA players wanted to thank Vince Carter for inspiring them to follow in his footsteps.

Some of the youngest stars in the NBA today first started watching basketball during Vince Carter’s prime, so they got to witness Air Canada in full force. Not only did some of them get to go on and play against Carter at the highest level, but some of them ended up being his teammate.

It’s not just the young guys who idolized Carter, as some of the game’s greatest players also watched in awe during his prime.
 

Carter suited up in 1,541 games over his 22-year career and scored 25,728 points, 6,606 rebounds and 4,714 assists.
