It’s undeniable to admit that hockey is one of the most beautiful sports.
Something about it is so captivating, leaving any spectator in awe and in love with its fast-paced and overall gutty style.
And as the game itself is absolutely breathtaking, we couldn’t help but think of some of the unique and dream-like spaces to play a game of hockey.
We talked about some of the most incredible baseball fields in the world recently, so now we present to you, a handful of the most remarkable places to play hockey in the world!
Pula Arena – Pula, Croatia
We’re starting off with a bang right off the bat and honestly probably the coolest arena not only on this list but even possibly the coolest sporting venue we can think of.
In 2012, Pula Arena, a Roman amphitheatre that is over 2,000 years old, held Arena Ice Fever Pula MMXII, where Medvescak Zagreb played against Olimpija Ljubljana and UPC Vienna Capitals in front of a crowd of over 7,000 fans.
Red Square – Moscow, Russia
Using historical landmarks to host sporting events is a pretty niche market, but we’re all in on it.
In 2009, the first-ever KHL All-Star Game took place with Jaromir Jagr and Alexei Yashin serving as captains, marking one of the most surreal hockey experiences we’ve ever seen.
Lake Louise – Alberta, Canada
What can be deemed as hockey heaven, is right in our own backyard!
When thinking of the perfect ODR, Lake Louise without a doubt is the first place that comes to mind.
Do we think it should host the next NHL All-Star game? We mean, yeah. We absolutely do. Look at the breathtaking beauty of the Alberta Rockies, look at the snow!
City of Jaca Hockey Arena – Jaca, Spain
Now, this is a hockey arena. Wow.
Built-in 2005, this arena looks completely futuristic and was originally created to host the European Youth Olympic Festival of Jaca 2007.
The arena itself sits amongst a mountain-filled skyline, between Oroel Mount and the Pyrenees Mountains, and is overall, just absolutely breathtaking.
Lake Tahoe – Stateline, Nevada
If we’re going to show love for Lake Louise, we’d inevitably need to give Lake Tahoe its flowers!
Home of the 2021 NHL Outdoor Games, Tahoe welcomed the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers.
Though of course, we all know the event brought on some delays due to weather issues. (Possibly the first time someone has ever complained about sun and nice weather).
Regardless, the outdoor games were mesmerizing at Edgewood Tahoe Resort, with the Sierra Range set as the backdrop.
Tower of London Ice Rink – London, England
We’re heading back across the pond with this one.
While we don’t believe a hockey game has been played here, we think it’d be absolutely incredible to shoot the puck amongst such a historic monument.
The rink sits within the moat of the Tower of London, amongst the great wall, with incredible views of the London skyline nestled close by.
Though unfortunately, the rink has not run for two-consecutive years, we think it’s time we bring it back. Maybe the NHL brings back the Global Series and uses the London Tower Rink!
We’d be all over that!
Valliant Arena – Davos, Switzerland
If you wanted some series ski chalet vibes to make for the perfect winter-esque scene, then Valliant Arena definitely has you covered.
Home of HC Davos and Spengler Cup, the wooden interior is extremely unique arena looks almost like a cathedral with it’s structure.
From the outside, the arena looks like a ski chalet situated amongst snowy-mountains, which perfectly coincides with the city’s prevailing ski culture within the Swiss Alps.
