Tonight was a historical night within the hockey community, as for the first time, it is believed that the NHL has finally had their first all-Black starting line in league history.
Mathieu Joseph, Daniel Walcott, and Gemel Smith made up the starting line for the Tampa Bay Lightning as they took on the Florida Panthers within the final game of the regular season for both clubs. In addition, it was Walcott’s NHL debut!
Tonight’s game is something he and all of us will definitely remember.
Just back in March, we were able to witness Akil Thomas, Quinton Byfield and Devante Smith-Pelly form the first all-Black line in Ontario Reign history within the AHL.
Many within the hockey community touched on just how special the moment was, not only tonight but for future generations to come.
