While Cristiano Ronaldo continues to captivate the sports world with his recent hat-trick performance against Spain, there’s still one image that casts a pall over his career. Do you remember this hideous Ronaldo bust that shocked the world with its awfulness?
After being featured inside a Portugal airport for a year, the bust has finally been replaced with a new version. This one isn’t dreadful, and in fact, it’s pretty good!
This bust was commissioned from a different and unnamed artist. Quite famously, the original sculptor, Emanuel Santos, declared that “not even Jesus pleased everyone.”
Given a second shot at the Ronaldo bust by Bleacher Report, though, Santos was able to do a much better job over his first attempt.
Still though, nothing has captured the imagination of the Internet like the original. It genuinely became a meme of itself, being compared to everyone from New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis to Two-Face from The Dark Knight.
As history shows, getting jokes off is undefeated.
