Tomorrow will be a historic day in Toronto team sports – whether it will be historically positive or negative remains to be seen.
Three Toronto teams will play in some form of playoff game, with the Leafs playing in Game 7 against the Bruins, the Raptors in Game 5 against the Wizards and TFC in the 2nd leg of their CONCACAF Champions League finals against Chivas. All will have major implications on the teams’ season and many fans were wondering how they would handle the always popular Maple Leaf Square.
MLSE, who has at least a part ownership of all three teams announced what their plans will be: The parties will be combined.
That’s a lot, so we’ll break it down into smaller points:
- The Raptors game will occupy the main screen (They are the home team)
- The Maple Leafs will have a separate screen set up near York and Bremner
- TFC will have a smaller screen broadcasting their matchup
This seems to make the most sense and should keep most fans happy. It will be an interesting dynamic for the crowds to be split like this and we’ll be curious to see how it all plays out.
You know we’ll be down there tomorrow, hopefully now that we know the Leafs will be on, we’ll be able to see the Maple Leaf Square referees again.
