Saturday night, the New York Islanders will be making a return to Nassau Coliseum to host the Columbus Blue Jackets. It will be the first of 12 games the Islanders are playing at their old rink since they moved in 2015.
New York had a ton of success at Nassau and perhaps the most impressive stat to exemplify that is they were 11-1 in Stanley Cup Final games at the Coliseum. With so much history in that building, the Islanders are bringing back a piece of it for the game Saturday, too, in the form of a jersey.
That's right, the "Fisherman" jersey is making a comeback....sort of.
The Islanders won't be wearing this jersey for the game, but it will be available for purchase for fans, so it's a nice touch. The Coliseum will also feature some changes as renovations were made for the team's return to Long Island.
