The Cleveland Cavaliers have changed a lot in the past couple of years and that trend will continue next year as they change up several of their logos.
The announcement was made today, with the team citing a desire for simplification and a more modern aesthetic to match the evolution and growth of their franchise. They shared all of the images in a carousel post on Instagram.

They are definitely matching the modern look of the rest of the NBA, as it seems like everyone is donning some sort of shield as their logo. Several other NBA teams have updated their logos recently as well. The two most recent have been the Pistons and Timberwolves.
The timing seems a little odd, as they announce it right before the NBA Finals. You’d have to assume they’ve got a lot on their plate right now, but apparently they just couldn’t wait.
