After each win in front of their home crowd, the Carolina Hurricanes have established a tradition of the Storm Surge on-ice celebration in front of their fans. It’s fun for the players as well as for the crowd, but as you can probably tell, it has proved to be a bit controversial among some fans and analysts.
After their 3-0 win against the Dallas Stars, the Hurricanes took to the ice to dance it off, and then after that, the team took to Twitter to push back on some of the criticism that the Storm Surge has received lately.
It’s all in good fun, and generally, we’re on the side of fun in hockey. Certainly, the Canes have had plenty to be happy about recently — with a 16-5-1 record in their last 22 games, they may just be the hottest team in the NHL. Their win against the Stars moved Carolina into a wild-card playoff spot, which is incredible for a team near the cellar just one month ago.
So, hey, why not have some fun with it, right? This time, the whole team got involved, after the team’s previous Storm Surge on Friday put the spotlight on Warren Foegele, swinging away.
