In less than two weeks, sports fans will alter their attention (and sleeping pattern) for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. The action will kick off on February 9th in PyeongChang, as 92 countries will compete for eternal glory.

PyeonChang will offer a different experience compared to Olympics past. For starters, Russian athletes will not be able to represent their home country. But as the games approach, hockey fans will be focused on how their country will fare in the upcoming tournament. With the NHL disallowed from competing, professional and junior players from outside of the league are gearing up for what may be a once in a lifetime experience.

DownieLive recently offered an in-depth look at the gigantic new arena. From the ice surface to the dressing room, PyeonChang’s newest facility does not disappoint.

The building is named the Kwandong Hockey Center and will be one of two Olympic hockey venues this year. According to curbed.com, the venue can fill 6,000 spectators.

Its total capacity is relatively small, but players should be pleased with the ice they’re about to hit. Women’s action will kick off on February 10, followed by the men on the 14th.
