Stipe Miocic joined the UFC in 2011 and grinded it out for more than five years before he finally heard his name called for a title fight. Once he got there he made the most of his opportunity by defeating Fabricio Werdum on May 14, 2016 to capture the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
The 35-year-old Euclid, Ohio native went on to defend his title against Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos and Francis Ngannou in just under a two-year span, before his run came to an end against Daniel Cormier at UFC 226 on July 7, 2018.
On Wednesday afternoon Stipe and his wife, Ryan Marie, welcomed their first child, Meelah Claire Miocic, to the world, and he got some help from Bruce Buffer for the official announcement.
This is easily one of the greatest birth announcements we’ve ever heard, if not the greatest, and we’re guessing there’s a lot of professional fighters out there right now wishing they had thought of this first.
Miocic owns a professional record of 18-3 and has already reached out to Daniel Cormier for a possible rematch.
