The hockey world is still reeling from the devastating events of Friday evening when SJHL team Humboldt Broncos suffered a serious bus crash that has taken the lives of 15 players and team staff, while leaving more injured.
In response to the accident, the hockey world – and beyond – has responded with an outpouring of support.
Support has come in many forms, with teams donating money, holding moments of silence, wearing “BRONCOS” in place of name plates, and many more. Pittsburgh Penguins’ captain Sidney Crosby went the extra mile in offering his support.
According to David Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Sidney Crosby penned personalized messages to each of the crash survivors. The messages came on the backs of photos, but that’s not all the care package sent from Pittsburgh contained.
Molinari continued by explaining that team officials said Crosby also had team equipment manager, Dana Heinze, put together a Penguins jersey with BRONCOS as the name plate, and 18 as the number. Every member of the Penguins signed it.
