Move over, Anaheim Ducks, the San Jose Sharks just made the best holiday video around.
The San Jose Sharks, known for their fun holiday-themed Christmas videos, dropped another cool project that features some of the Sharks on a quest to find the perfect Christmas tree.
The video starts out with Tomas Hertl and Chris Tierney using their sticks and skates to chop down a massive tree. Unable to take it down, in steps Brent Burns, who tells Hertl to get their “40-flex wet noodles out of here” before taking command.
Being the outdoorsman that he is, Burns takes down the tree, but it crashes onto the team bus, forcing the teammates to spend a night huddled around a camp fire.
Being the leader that he is, captain Joe Pavelski takes over and orders the team to build a wooden bobsled. Realizing they can’t move, defenceman Marc-Edoudard Vlasic calls up his dogs and attaches them to the bobsled that brings them back to civilization.
There’s lots of great little details about the video that make the production value soar, like rookie Kevin LeBanc’s phone dying when the team orders an Uber because he played too many games on it, or Joe Thornton saying “you can’t grow the beard for the young man, you just have to let him grow it himself.” Heck, even using the Sharks mascot as a wood chipper to carve the sled is a great idea, as well as Joe Pavelski’s Captain America shield, and of course, a shirtless Joe Thornton.
Hats off to the Sharks marketing team for putting this together, and Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton, Brent Burns, Kevin Labanc, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Tomas Hertl, Chris Tierney, Brenden Dillion for all lending their voices.
