Saturday Night Live is a platform like no other. It takes celebrities from all facets of entertainment, whether it be Hollywood actors, musicians, and of course athletes, and it puts them into skit-based humour sketches that fans are not usually used to seeing them in.

While actors and musicians are entertaining to watch, sometimes the best moments come from athletes – as they are the only group of celebrities that are not actually trained to be good in front of the camera. They are trained to play a sport. This can lead to moments of genuine comedy gold, and on Saturday it was outspoken basketball analyst and former NBA great Charles Barkley’s time to go live from New York.

One of the skits that apparently was scrapped by SNL producers featured an introduction from J.J. Abrams that apparently previewed a new stand-alone Star Wars film. In the never-before-seen “trailer”, Barkley is seen asking a question every casual Star Wars viewer has wondered – how is everyone understanding each other?

While Star Wars fans may write this off as blasphemy, a Barkley-centric Star Wars series would absolutely make for entertaining content. After all, the man has a history of hilarity.
