We’re still a ways away from being able to determine whether Seattle’s team will get off to the same winning ways their counterpart expansion team – the Vegas Golden Knights – did last year. We know one team they won’t be beating, though. Team Internet. The internet never loses.
Before we get even close to that, we’re going to need a team name anyway. Lots of ideas have flowed through as to what an appropriate name would be, and in response Reddit has put together its own little voted upon list of 39 names, some of which are downright hilarious.
McHockeyFaces and McSeattleFaces is a play off of the whole Boaty McBoatface saga. If you don’t know what that is you should probably look it up.
There’s some direct reference to other teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Capitals (a few times), there’s the necessary Seattle Supersonics play-on-words, there’s some NSFW content in there for those that have a raunchier sense of humour – this list has it all.
Realistically, it likely won’t become any of these names. Ideas like the Seattle Krakens and Storm are some of the more popular choices, but we’ll see how this list resonates in the weeks to come.
