NHL playoff hockey is around the corner, and that means teams and their fans are gearing up for some of the best hockey atmosphere money can buy. The amplified stakes, the sold out arenas, and the impassioned pace of play make playoff games a hot ticket, but after seeing this Swiss League game it is clear that a hype crowd atmosphere doesn’t have to come from the NHL.

The European league appeared to tap into their famously raucous soccer atmosphere and brought it over to a hockey game. Through all the chanting and jumping, it looks like it was extremely hype.

Hockey could use a little more crowd participation. To this point it’s mostly just cheering and clapping with the occasional fan who’s had a few too many telling the refs to get some glasses because they’re missing a great game.

Saying that, hopefully hockey doesn’t adopt ALL the qualities of soccer crowds…
