It’s been tough sledding for the Buffalo Sabres for… what feels like forever. No matter how active the franchise is at trying to fix issues, nothing seems to work.
At the beginning of the year, it felt like there was actually some potential. Taylor Hall, just a few years removed from a Hart Trophy, joined the team to play alongside Jack Eichel. The young potential had another year to develop. There was even hope Linus Ulmark, who is now injured, would shape into being a solid starting goaltender.
Fast forward to the middle of March and the Sabres look as lost as ever. As a result, some familiar frustrations are being aired to the media by players, whether it’s from coach Ralph Krueger, Hall, Eichel, or anyone in between.
The latest out of Buffalo came from the mouth of Rasmus Ristolainen. The big defenceman took a different approach with the media, seemingly trying to focus on positives and not get too hung up on recent failures.
While the sentiment seems fair enough, the quote didn’t quite land. The Sabres have lost 10 straight games, and the immediate response from Sabres fans was essentially saying the polar opposite.
