Snoop Dogg is a big sports fan, particulary football. The Los Angeles rapper has been coaching kids in football for over 14 years and started the Snoop Youth Football League back in 2005. More than 50 teams play in the league with over 5000 players from Northern and Southern California, and Texas.
It’s became a hotbed for college football scouts to monitor and recruit. Two years ago, 28 grads from the non-profit league became NCAA Division 1 athletes. When the Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50, running back Ronnie Hillman became the first alumnus to receive a Super Bowl ring.
Back in 2015 on the Rich Eisen Show, the Cali rapper recommended a play that NFL squads should incorporate into their playbook that he used in his league before. Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay appeared on the show on Friday, and was asked what he thought of the Fake 31 Fake 24 Z Reverse play, and seemed fascinated to the point where he might try it with his 5-2 Rams team.
“He’s got some good Xs and Os,” said McVay of the Long Beach, California recording artist and football coach.
Guess we’ll have to wait until Week 9 of the NFL season to see if McVay and the Rams utilize the play or not. Even if he doesn't, it’s pretty cool to see an actual NFL coach break down a play drawn up by Snoop.
