A lot of fans have shared their opinions on Brad Marchand after he licked Ryan Callahan in Game 4 Friday night and on Saturday, some big names shared their thoughts on the incident.
Ahead of Game 4 between the Jets and Predators Saturday night in Nashville, a number of players (and coaches) were asked about Marchand's antics:
As per Pierre LeBrun, Johansen went on to add this in The Athletic:
“The only thing I would say is that I was hoping Callahan would score in overtime and skate around with his tongue out or something like that. I was hoping for something like that.”
P.K. Subban and Adam Lowry also shared their thoughts on what Marchand did and how they might react to being on the receiving end of the lick, as per Pierre LeBrun:
“Probably punch him in the face,” Lowry said smirking. “You know what? It’s hard to say, it’s never happened to me. I think I’d be pretty pissed off. You’d look for the refs, I don’t even know if it’s a penalty, but for misconduct or something. No, that would be real irritating, for sure.”
Based on what the players had to say, it would seem they all agree that they wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a lick and that it should be a penalty of some sort.
The NHL agrees as well, so they made sure the players know licking can lead to a penalty.
