In times of tragedy, sports can be so important and have an incredibly powerful impact.
Stephen Piscotty of the Oakland Athletics has felt that impact and support from his teammates, the fans and the baseball world since the passing of his mother Gretchen, who lost her battle with ALS earlier this week.
Tuesday, Piscotty was back in the lineup and it was an emotional return as he received a warm welcome back from the fans, his teammates and the Astros.
Piscotty was traded to the Athletics in order to be closer to his mother and ESPN spent time recently with the Piscotty family to chronicle their story.
Our thoughts go out to the Piscotty family and it's incredible to see how the sports world has rallied to support his family in this time.
