The Colorado Avalanche had a chance to push the Calgary Flames to the brink of elimination Wednesday night, but it was never going to be easy. Down 2-0 in the 3rd, the Avs battled back to force overtime.
In the extra frame, though, Calgary had a glorious chance to end it and Philipp Grubauer made arguably the save of the year to keep OT going.
Mikael Backlund is going to be haunted by those images for a long, long time. If Grubauer didn't lift his pad, the series would be even heading back to Calgary.
For the second time this series, the Avalanche made sure an amazing save from their goalie didn't go to waste as Mikko Rantanen beat Mike Smith to put the Avalanche up 3-1 in the series. (H/T: Twitter)
