It was a homecoming of sorts at the ACC Thursday night as Auston Matthews faced his boyhood team in the Arizona Coyotes and Peter Holland faced his former team, the Leafs, for the first time since being traded just a short while ago.
Of course, as fate would have it, Matthews opened the scoring to give the Leafs the lead, but the game would eventually need a shootout, and three Toronto shooters and two Arizona shooters missed, the Coyotes had a chance to win it, so of course head coach Dave Tippett asked Holland about potentially shooting, and his response was amazing.
Make it 1 for 3 now, and heck, maybe Holland gets another opportunity down the road to shoot again based on what he did against his former team.
It was the perfect ending for the former Leaf, and Holland was very happy about the result.
The night got even better for the 25-year-old after the game as he was awarded the player of the game wrestling belt to top off an incredible homecoming.
