Gabriel Landeskog scored the first hat trick of his career last night, but it must have been pretty bittersweet based on the team’s way of celebrating.
As their captain’s hat trick led them to a 6-2 win over the Captials, the team showered their captain with praise…and water. Landeskog skated by the bench to bump fists with his teammates and then they took the lids off of their water bottles and threw water at him several times throughout the celebration.
A perfect moment from the celebration was captured by Getty Images photographer Michael Martin as not only is Landeskog getting sprayed in the face by Jonathan Bernier’s watter bottle, but he’s also getting a face wash from Erik Johnson.
It may not have been the most comfortable celebration, but we’re sure the ribbing from his teammates made the whole moment even more special.
