Let the mind games begin!
With the Stanley Cup set to take place between the Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues on Monday, the time is now to attempts at getting into the opponent's. Players are often the ones doing the talking, but this time around it was coach Bruce Cassidy attempting to get into Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington’s head. Before the action kicks off, Cassidy claimed the Bruins had an advantage on him simply because he played in the Bruins’ system for the Providence Bruins. The 25-year-old didn’t seem to agree, however, nor did his teammate Patrick Maroon, who laughed off the comment after overhearing it.
You would THINK Cassidy would have learnt something from Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella in their second round series. Can anyone recall torts saying the Jackets had gotten to Tuukka? He went on to post a dominant 39-save shutout the next game to help clinch the series.
Cassidy doesn’t appear to be the only Bruins member playing games with the opposition. Forward David Backes COMPLETELY iced former teammate Alex Pietrangelo after receving a text from him. Did the guy just leave him on “read”?!
This is going to be an interesting Stanley Cup Final.
