Monday was a very sad day in Major League Baseball as Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs passed away at the age of 27. As a result of the tragic news, the LA Angels’ tilt with the Texas Rangers was postponed until a later date.
On Tuesday, the two teams returned to action and honoured Tyler Skaggs with a touching tribute video and moment of silence before the game.
It wasn’t just the Angels and the Rangers playing with heavy hearts on Tuesday, though, as players and teams around the league found many different ways to honour the late Tyler Skaggs, including his best friend Patrick Corbin, who drew Skaggs’ No. 45 on his pitcher’s mound.
Meanwhile, Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto and Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer honoured Skaggs on their caps, while Corbin changed his number from 46 to 45.
Corbin pitched an absolute gem in honour of his best friend as he went 7 innings and struck 7 while allowing just one run in a 2-1 victory.
