On February 14, 2018, many lives were changed after a gunman open fired at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 people. It’s now been one year since the tragic shooting and the community is still working on moving forward and doing everything they can to help change the gun laws in the United States.
Thursday night, the Florida Panthers hosted the Calgary Flames and it was an emotional night for many. During the pre-game warm-ups, Roberto Luongo switched things up as he took to the ice in a Marjory Stoneman Douglas memorial mask instead of his usual one.
Prior to the game, there was also a moment of silence held for those who were affected by the shootings that day.
It’s a day that the community will never forget.
