Since being drafted with the eighth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, Christian McCaffrey has had a fine start to his career with the Carolina Panthers. With another 12 receptions against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, he increased his total to 106 on the season — good for the single-season record for receptions by a running back.

The record was previously set by Matt Forte’s 102 catches in the 2014 season, and, as a bonus for McCaffrey, he can also claim to have the highwater mark in the family: His father, Ed McCaffrey, pulled in a career-best 101 catches as a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos in 2000.

The elder McCaffrey shared a heartfelt message to commemorate the occasion on Twitter.

McCaffrey also became just the third running back to notch 100 catches and 1,000 rushing yards in this season, which just goes to show that the sky is the limit for the young star.

And as if his dual-threat skillset wasn’t enough, the guy was even out there throwing touchdown passes last week.
