The Baltimore Orioles play host to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night and it’s going to be a historic night.
As a way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the National Federation of the Blind moving its headquarters to Baltimore, the Orioles will become the first American professional sports team to incorporate Braille lettering on their gameday uniforms.
The players and the coaches will wear specially designed jerseys on Tuesday night that feature Braille lettering on both the front and the back of the uniforms and will later be auctioned off with proceeds going to the National Federation of the Blind.
The team also shared out the starting lineup in Braille lettering, and handed out Braille alphabet cards to the first 15,000 fans in attendance.
This has been a season to forget about for both the Orioles and their fanbase, but this is one thing they can certainly be proud of.
