Ever since the Raptors traded for Kawhi Leonard, the question has been whether or not the team would be able to convince him to re-sign on a long-term deal. It’s widely believed that he has some interest in returning home to Los Angeles, but making the Finals with the Raptors can’t hurt their pitch either, right?
In fact, one oddsmaker has bumped the Raptors to the top of the list for Kawhi’s potential suitors. In Odds Shark’s updated odds for Kawhi’s next team, the Raptors have overtaken the Clippers.
When Kawhi first arrived in Toronto, and for a long time since then, the perception has been that the Raptors face an uphill battle to re-sign Kawhi. We won’t know how this all ends until July, but things are looking better by the day. (And, hey, a championship wouldn’t hurt, right?!)
Gotta watch out for those Clippers, though. While they can’t tamper with Kawhi, it seems like they’re adopting a sneaky strategy in order to lure Kawhi, and Clippers coach Doc Rivers made sure to gas him up in a big way in a recent appearance on ESPN.
