The Winnipeg Jets are the only Canadian team remaining in the NHL playoffs and some people have been calling for the rest of the country to get behind them.
It’s not hard to root for the Jets because they have a good combination of young, exciting players and grizzly, veteran talent and they are just so skilled. Still a lot of people don’t buy in to the whole “root for any Canadian team” ideology, because these teams are often their biggest rivals. More people might get behind that side of the movement after this latest statistic.
Reddit user NHLtoSeattle posted a statistic point out that the team Winnipeg is play, Vegas, has the most Canadian roster whereas the Jets have the most Americans.
It’s the classic fall back that all Canadians use when people point out that a Canadian team hasn’t won in 25 years. Most teams that win have a significant percentage of Canadian players on their roster, so Canadians win every year, really.
As for the Jets, players like Blake Wheeler, Kyle Connor, Dustin Byfuglien, Jacob Trouba, Paul Stastny, Connor Hellebuyck, Jack Roslovic and Andrew Copp are all Americans.
