So, there’s some good news and the bad news.
The good news is, Nick Foles got off to a good start in his first game for the Jacksonville Jaguars. This 35-yard touchdown, reeled in on an incredible catch by DJ Chark Jr., is exactly the kind of thing that the Jags want to see from their new quarterback.
The bad news is, he got hurt on the same play. It was his second drive of the game.
There’s a silver lining for the Jags! Back-up quarterback Gardner Minshew, who was picked with the 178th pick in this year’s draft, completed his first 13 passes for 148 yards in Foles’ stead — the most by any QB to begin their career over the last 40 years.
If he keeps this up, Jacksonville may not miss Foles too much after all. Foles was ruled out for the rest of the game with a left shoulder injury and he’ll undergo X-rays.
Despite Minshew’s strong start, it isn’t enough to keep the Jags competitive with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. That’s... fair, against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
