The Patrick Marleau era wasn’t a long one in Toronto, but it was an impactful one. The long-time San Jose Shark joined the Leafs as he approached the twilight of his career. Now 39 years old, the Leafs sent him packing to Carolina, presumably to be bought out, thus ended his time as a Leaf.
While there are a number of things he could be remembered for, there’s none greater than his relationship with star youngsters Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews. With Matthews writing his emotional farewell earlier today, Marner joined in with his own heartfelt goodbye.
