The Colorado Avalanche and their fans have gone through a few rough seasons since their incredible 112-point campaign during the 2013-14 season.

After finishing with an embarrassing 48 points last season, the Avalanche have been able to turn things around this year. They’re not even at the halfway point of the season yet and are just five points back of last season’s total.

One of the biggest reasons for their recent turnaround has been the play of Nathan MacKinnon.

The Halifax, Nova Scotia native is on pace for career highs in every category across the board and is having his best season since his rookie campaign, which happened to be the year the team hit 112 points.

The 22-year-old currently leads the Avs in goals (17), assists (31), points (48), power play points (16) and game-winning goals (4), and his impressive campaign has not gone unnoticed by those around him.

Milan Hejduk appeared in 1,020 games for the Colorado Avalanche and will have his No. 23 retired this weekend, so for an Avs legend to show high praise for the youngster like that is pretty awesome.
