It looks like Michael Jordan is dipping a toe into the NASCAR world, and he already has his first driver.

Per Shams Charania, MJ is starting a team in partnership with Denny Hamlin (who currently drives with Joe Gibbs Racing, and will continue to do so), and he has already brought on Bubba Wallace who is notable for being the only Black full-time driver in NASCAR.

In a statement through the Charlotte Hornets, also owned by Jordan, he expresses enthusiasm about supporting Black people in NASCAR, especially during a time where the sport is making a renewed effort to support social change.

We aren’t sure who saw Jordan forming an ownership group with a current NASCAR driver and bringing on NASCAR’s only Black driver with him, but, like anything, we’re sure that he’ll be competitive about it.
