The first big NASCAR race of the year is here, and Michael Jordan is making his debut with as a team co-owner with Denny Hamlin at Daytona 500.

Bubba Wallace, who joined Jordan’s team in September, is driving their car, appropriately given the No. 23 and decked out in Chicago Bulls red.

Wallace is known for establishing many firsts among African-American drivers in NASCAR, and was the subject of a high-profile racist incident last year when he found a noose placed in his garage stall.

Both Jordan and Wallace have spoken about their dedication to supporting diversity in NASCAR, and the debut of their racing team is a powerful step in that direction.
