Leonardo DiCaprio finally got his oscar, and Alexander Ovechkin finally won his Stanley Cup, but Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are still missing their respective World Cup titles.
In the second episode of the YouTube series, ‘The Champions’, a hilarious, bachelor-esque, cartoon where 800 pro footballers and their managers live together in a mansion, Gerard Piqué notices Messi has been feeling a little down since the World Cup, and thinks that the realization that he may never win one has him down in the dumps. Piqué decides to take the club to a pottery class, where Messi can make his own World Cup to cheer himself up. From there, the video is pure gold.
While Piqué was crafting a clay Grammy for his sweetheart, Shakira, he was expecting Messi to be working away at a World Cup for himself, when he reveals that he’s actually making something for Ronaldo.
When Messi delivers the gift to Ronaldo’s door, it turns out to be a recreation of the heavily critiqued bust that was placed on display at Madeira Airport, with the addition of a plaque that reads ‘siempre #2’, which, in English, translates to ‘always #2’.
The series is packed full of hilarious puns that will have international soccer fans cracking up, and have been getting an overwhelmingly positive response online.
It’s safe to say that this online series will be a hit, and we’re already anticipating the latest installment.
